Drops were random. You might kill a boss and get no gear good for YOUR character, but you might get a item that great for ANOTHER character, so youd put it up for trade for an item YOU NEED. Also Diablo 2 was a great deal harder than Diablo 3. You had to make sure you were prepared for that next step. Diablo 3 at release and Diablo 3 now are very very different. D3 now is a solid ARPG, and while its not the same as Diablo 2, it has certainly has its own niche. I'm not going to get into a pissing contest about it, because the D2 purists are total nutjobs when it comes to that, but if you think D3 is still a shitheap of a game based on what Not much is known about Diablo 4, but the game looks much more similar to Diablo 2 than Diablo 3, meaning there is hope for a darker ARPG. For those raised on Diablo 2’s inspiration, like Torchlight, Path of Exile or even Diablo 3, some of the intervening years’ innovations will be hard missed.
